Canada Study Permit Guide for Sierra Leone
Applying for a Canada study permit from Sierra Leone? Here is the LOA, PAL, funds, and biometrics sequence.
Sierra Leone is a significant source of international students for Canada, with thousands of study permit holders enrolled at DLI institutions.
Students from Sierra Leone who wish to study in Canada need a study permit. After receiving an acceptance letter from a DLI, apply through IRCC. You need a letter of acceptance, proof of financial support, a valid passport, and may need biometrics.
Apply online from Sierra Leone. Processing times vary, so apply early. IRCC makes the final decision.
Where you apply
Most applicants in Sierra Leone submit a Canada study permit online through IRCC and complete biometrics at a visa application centre if requested. Confirm current VAC locations and instructions on official IRCC/VFS pages only.

You must show funds for first-year tuition on the LOA plus IRCC’s living-cost requirement. Use bank statements, loans, scholarships, or a GIC pathway as applicable for students from Sierra Leone.
